A legal services non-profit organization based in New Orleans seeks a qualified candidate to join our team as Director of Finance and Administration.  


The Director of Finance and Administration will supervise the Administration & Finance Division.  The mission of this position is to manage all fiscal operations of the agency.

Essential Functions


  1. Experience managing federal and state grants form multiple sources preferred.

  2. Experience with cost allocation and multi-fund budgeting required.  

  3. Manages all fiscal functions for the agency.

  4. Prepares and monitors agency-wide budgets.

  5. Prepares financial reports as needed.

  6. Monitors financial compliance with contracts and grants as needed.

  7. Prepares and files required tax reports and returns.

  8. Trains and supervises accounting staff, including the Accounting Assistant and the Human Resources Generalist & Accounting Assistant.  Supervises staff within the Administration & Finance Division.  

  9. Monitors agency agreements.

  10. Manages capital assets.

  11. Manages agency cash and investments.

  12. Ensures fiscal audit is completed annually.

  13. Fulfills other duties in a timely manner, as assigned.

  14. Adheres to all policies and procedures as delineated in the Policies and Procedures Manuals.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, sit all for extended periods of time and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently lifts and moves up to 10 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.



Travel is primarily local during the business day.


Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in accounting, CPA preferred.

  • Eight to ten years experience in accounting, at least four of which were in a senior financial management role.

  • Demonstrates full understanding/knowledge of substantive issues related to work.

  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to communicate complex financial information.

  • Well-organized and ability to manage a wide variety of complex projects and details.

  • Excellent computer skills in spreadsheet and accounting applications.

  • Dependable automobile, valid driver’s license and current liability insurance.

  • Some in-state travel may be required.

  • Must be available to work weekends, as needed.
