Charles Tubre, AC's Systems Advocacy Specialist, helps more people with disabilities find accessible places to live through vouchers from the Housing Authority of New Orleans.
Advocacy Center reaches settlement with Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans that will significantly improve access for people with disabilities.
Join over 4000 people to celebrate the music and food of Latin American countries at the 25th Annual Festival Latino. It takes place on September 25th at the Catholic Deaf Center in Baton Rouge. Learn more about accessibility at the Festival in this article.
On October 22, LA voters will go to the polls to vote in races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, and other statewide representatives. Voters will also choose their state Representatives and Senators. Voters must be registered by Sept. 21st to be eligible to vote in this important election.

Lois Simpson, AC's Executive Director, will be answering your questions and listening to your ideas on Wednesday, Sept. 14th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Monday, Sept. 19th from 3:00 pm -4:00 pm.
AC staff recently spoke with Rep. Simon about one of his successes from the 2011 legislative session, House Bill 319, now Act 392. This law encourages individuals to build barrier-free homes by allowing the owner to receive a credit of up to $1000 against his/her individual income tax for the inclusion of accessible and barrier-free design elements.
