Louisiana Links

The Arc of Louisiana and Arc of Greater New Orleans - Non-profit organizations serving people with intellectual disabilities.

BIALA - The Brain Injury Alliance of Louisiana (BIALA) is a non-profit organization that serves the needs of persons with brain injury, their families, and care providers.

DDC - The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council is made up of people from every region of the state who are appointed by the governor to develop and implement a three year plan to address the needs of persons with disabilities.

FHF - Families Helping Families is a group of families who are committed to reaching out to other families who have members with special needs including physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, and/or academic issues.

GODA - The Governor's Office for Disability Affairs promotes the rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities in the State of Louisiana and addresses and resolve disability issues.

GOEA - The Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs administers a broad range of home and community based services for the development, implementation, and administration of public policy for the state of Louisiana to address the needs of the state’s elderly citizens.

LaCAN - Louisiana Citizens for Action Now is a statewide grassroots network of individuals advocating for a system that supports individuals to live in their own homes rather than having to move to a facility to receive needed services. Specifically, they have advocated for implementation of Louisiana's Community and Family Support System Plan.

LATAN - Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network assists individuals with disabilities to achieve a higher quality of life and greater independence through increased access to assistive technology as part of their daily lives.

LRS - Louisiana Rehabilitation Services provides career development programs that offer individuals with disabilities a wide range of services designed to provide them with the skills, resources, attitudes, and expectations needed to compete in the interview process, get the job, keep the job, and develop a lifetime career.

OCDD - The Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (LA Dept. of Health and Hospitals) provides information, training and leadership in the development of a comprehensive array of individualized supports and services to people with developmental disabilities.

Lawhelp - Guide to increase access to justice in Louisiana by giving the public easy and free internet access to information that will help with civil legal problems.

Work Pays - The Work-Pays web site is for people with disabilities, employers and the community at large. Work-Pays is a consortium of people who came together to increase the employment opportunities of persons with disabilities in Louisiana.

AAPD - The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the country's largest cross-disability membership organization, organizes the disability community to be a powerful voice for change – politically, economically, and socially. 

ADA - Americans with Disabilities Act

NDRN - The National Disability Rights Network is the nonprofit membership organization for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) Systems and Client Assistance Programs (CAP) for individuals with disabilities. Collectively, the P&A/CAP network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States.
