PAIMI Council Openings


The PAIMI Advisory Council serves to help set priorities for the Advocacy Center’s programs, conducts outreach and trainings, and works with staff to improve the lives of individuals with mental illness.

The PAIMI Council welcomes comments from individuals with mental illness, friends, family members and professionals in Louisiana. We also welcome new members. The PAIMI Advisory Council: Its Role and Functions

Support: To be familiar with the purpose, philosophy and activities of the PAIMI program and to positively represent the program to the community

Consultation: To provide the PAIMI program with the benefit of members’ insight, expertise and experience

Input: To provide information to the PAIMI program regarding the advocacy needs of the program’s clientele. To keep the Governing Board informed about issues of concern to the Advisory Council

Board of Directors: To select a Chairperson who will represent the needs and priorities of the program’s clientele to the Board of Directors

Planning: To work with staff of the PAIMI and the Board of Directors to develop priorities for the work of the PAIMI program

Reporting: Work with the PAIMI Chair to prepare the annual report

Oversight: To oversee the general effectiveness of the program and work with staff to bring about changes as needed

Skill Enhancement: To continue to increase own knowledge about mental health issues

Members of the PAIMI Council are expected to attend 4 meetings scheduled throughout the year and assist with projects as determined by the group. Typically, two of the meetings are held by phone and two are held in person. The Advocacy Center can assist with transportation and travel expenses for any “in-person” meetings.
