Our work has funding support through different programs; sometimes the funding requirements affect the kinds of services that the Advocacy Center can provide as well as the types of clients who can be served. The following are brief descriptions of the variety of programs and services which are part of the Advocacy Center. You may click on underlined titles to open a printable version of that publication. Federally Funded Programs CAP (Client Assistance Program) - For clients or applicants of Louisiana Rehabilitation Services who need assistance in securing rights guaranteed by the Rehabilitation Act. (CAP Printable Flyer) PAAT (Protection and Advocacy for Assistive Technology) - For individuals in Louisiana who need legal assistance to obtain evaluations and appropriate assistive technology equipment or related services. (PAAT Printable Flyer) PABSS (Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security) - For individuals who are beneficiaries of SSI/SSDI who are preparing for employment or seeking to obtain, maintain or advance in employment. (PABSS Printable Flyer, PABSS Trifold en Español) PADD (Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Developmental Disabilities) - For individuals with developmental disabilities in Louisiana who need assistance regarding education, legal rights, accessibility, public benefits, housing, legal status, juvenile issues and parental rights. (PADD Printable Flyer) PAIMI (Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness) - For persons residing in Louisiana who are diagnosed with a significant mental illness or emotional impairment and reside in or are in the process of admission to a care or treatment facility, such as a hospital, nursing home, group home, board and care home, supervised apartment, homeless shelter; or have an issue which arose while in the facility; or reside in a community setting, including an individual's home. (PAIMI Printable Flyer) PAIR (Protection and Advocacy for Individual Rights) - For persons in Louisiana with severe disabilities who need assistance regarding abuse/neglect, accessibility, assistive technology, housing, habilitation, rights, financial entitlements, legal status, and parental rights. (PAIR Printable Flyer) PATBI (Protection and Advocacy for Traumatic Brain Injury) - For persons in Louisiana with traumatic brain injury who need assistance regarding abuse/neglect, accessibility, assistive technology, housing, habilitation, rights, financial entitlements, legal status, and parental rights. (PATBI Printable Flyer) HUD (Accessible Housing) - The Advocacy Center, in conjunction with the LSU Human Development Center, is sponsoring two workshops on housing rights in Louisiana. One will cater to landlords and the other will be for people with disabilities and service providers. HAVA (Help America Vote Act) - This project aims to inform people with disabilities about their rights relative to voting. The project will train both individuals with disabilities and personnel connected to the voting process, such as election officials and poll workers. KAT (Katrina Aid Today) - This program provides case management services to people with disabilities affected by Hurricane Katrina. The KAT program is no longer accepting new clients. This program will end on March 31, 2008.(KAT Printable Flyer) WIPA (Workforce Incentives Planning and Assistance Coalition) - For recipients of Social Security benefits who want to make the transition into the workforce and need information and assistance with workforce incentives and planning. (WIPA Printable Flyer) Contract Programs CLOP (Community Living Ombudsman Program) - For residents of privately operated facilities for individuals with developmental disabilities who need assistance with protection of rights and quality of life issues. (CLOP Printable Flyer, CLOP Trifold) ELS (Elderly Legal Services) - For persons 60 years of age and older in 3 parishes (Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Tammany) who need legal assistance with issues of abuse/neglect, accessibility, age discrimination, assistive technology, financial entitlements, health care, legal status, long term care, and public housing. (ELS Printable Flyer) LTCOP (Long Term Care Ombudsman Program) - For residents of nursing homes, board and care facilities and skilled nursing facility units of hospitals in 22 parishes, who need assistance with protection of rights or quality of life issues. (LTCOP Printable Flyer) OLAP (Ombudsman Legal Assistance Program) - For elderly residents and applicants of nursing homes and board and care homes in Louisiana, who need legal assistance regarding residents' rights, abuse/neglect, legal status and public benefits.
